My client is recruiting for a Domestic Gas Supervisor to work on a large static site in the IP27 area of Suffolk. The role will be to manage an engineering team of 11 engineers who provide planned and reactive maintenance services to a portfolio of well-maintained and professional domestic properties. You will manage domestic gas engineers, plumbers and electricians who provide a full service to the customers.

As a result, it is advantageous for the supervisor to have hands on competencies in both mechanical and electrical engineering however as most of the work is mechanical this is the preferred bias. The role is quite office based and so as well as hands on engineering, applicants must be conversant with paperwork and proficient using a computer.

The main duties of the role will include:

Acting as the senior technical person on the engineering team, providing technical guidance to the engineers and providing hands on assistance as required.
Conducting site safety visits across the properties and inspecting the engineer’s work
Ensuring all planned and reactive maintenance is delivered across the building portfolio
Souring and ordering parts from approved suppliers
Overseeing subcontractors on site
Acting as the first line of managerial support for the engineers for anything technical but also relating to conduct such as booking holidays, managing sickness and conducting 121 meetings.
Working under the contracts manager and assisting them as required
Ensuring the team training requirements are met and all qualifications and tickets are in date.
Deliver staff briefings and tool box talks
Taking part in the on-call rota which is 1 week in 4.

My client is looking fora confident, experienced a driven individual with good planning and organisational skills. Qualifications or Required Experience:

Hands- on Mechanical background is preference – domestic gas is essential
City and Guilds or NVQ in appropriate disciplineh
Electrical skill and/or the 18 th edition is desirable to provide a multi-skilled offering to the site.
Experience of developing operational teams focused on service delivery.
Sound understanding of H&S, Environment and QA procedures.
IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft applications and other information management systems
