Detail Designer – Shipbuilding

A Detail Designer is required to work on a twenty two month contract, with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Cumbria.

Overview of the Detail Designer contract role

Develop and produce CAD models, drawings and other Technical Outputs consistent with the contractual requirements to meet target dates and budget demands (Delivery to time, quality and budget)

Develop and draw 2D Diagrams, utilising the relevant tool-set.

3D Integration within the Product Model

Key skills required for the Detail Designer

HNC or equivalent qualification or experience in mechanical engineering, structural engineering or naval architecture discipline
Design experience gained in one of the following areas: submarines, surface vessels, oil & gas or offshore
Experience or familiarity with FORAN package (or transferrable packages CADDS5 or Catia v5 or v6)DESIRABLE:

Knowledge of one or more of the following:

Main hull
Decks
Bulkheads
Tanks
Seats and mounting arrangements
Walkways/ platforms
Doors and hatches
Compartment layoutsShipbuilding experience preferred

Ideally will have experience of Hull and Structural Design

The role is based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria – commutable from Carnforth, Milnthorpe, Lancaster, Morecambe, Penrith, Workington, Whitehaven and The Lake District
