The Charities and education team at Womble Bond Dickinson is one of the few nationally dedicated charities legal teams and we’re proud to be ranked as leaders in this field, across the UK. The team acts for a diverse range of clients including service providers, grant makers, religious orders, housing associations, professional societies, independent schools, academies, social enterprises and more. Our advice spans a wide range of issues from governance and constitutional issues, through to trustees’ duties and responsibilities, mergers, strategic partnerships, fundraising, trading and Charity Commission regulatory issues.
Partner and Charites Team Leader, Emma Moody , is now looking for a qualified lawyer to join the team, working closely with Jo Coleman in London and the wider practice across the regions.
So what will you be doing?
Working with fellow specialists across the UK, no two days will be the same. You’ll continue to develop your technical expertise through high quality work, with a combination of your own caseload and working as part of our wider team which is down to earth, straightforward, and great to work with. Experience within the Charities sector is not essential, but an interest is. It’s your technical skills that we’re more interested in. Much of our work for this sector is corporate in nature so you’ll bring the technical expertise that you’ve already built in this area.
There will be plenty of opportunities for client contact and you’ll be expected to build and maintain strong relationships. The team has a clear vision and an appetite for growth and it’s a great time to be joining us whether you’re at the early stages of your career or further on in your development.
What are we looking for?
You might be pleased to know that we don’t have an ideal candidate in mind. We recognise the uniqueness of all of our people and the varied talents they bring. However, to make a success of this role, there are a few key skills and attributes to set you on your way. We’re looking for expertise across a corporate or commercial practice area and that will have given you exceptional drafting, communication skills and a commercial outlook. You’ll need to be a robust and resilient lawyer, and willing to work in a fast paced environment with others who share the same passion for the charities and education sector as you do.
What’s in it for you?
This is an exciting time to be joining the firm. We’re ambitious and that is reflected in our vision, but we haven’t lost sight of what is important to us, and that is our people. We are committed to your learning and development whether that is through structured development programmes, coaching or mentoring relationships. We want our people to enjoy long and successful careers with us and we think we have developed a culture that reflects that.
You’ll be working with a talented and enthusiastic team who will be as invested in your career development as you are. You’ll be supported by a collegiate approach, a firm-wide commitment to lawyer development, and mentoring and supervision by leaders in their field.
In addition, through our D&I practices and programmes we work hard to ensure that difference is visibly valued and welcomed. Visit our D&I page to find out more.
And that’s not all, alongside a competitive salary you’ll receive a flexible benefits package so you can pick and choose between the benefits that matter most to you.
