About the role
Our Communications and Digital unit provides a full portfolio of communications and digital services to our clients world-wide, ranging from fully-fledged campaigns incorporating cross-media promotion and social media strategies to one-off publications, presentations and videos, online portals and databases, accessible websites, and creative design for high impact marketing materials.
Our work covers a wide range of policy areas including education and training, employment and social affairs, civil society, justice and home affairs, innovation and technology, entrepreneurship and SMEs, media, culture, sports, youth and EU affairs.
The Bid Team sits within the Communications and Digital unit and is responsible for sourcing new business opportunities and coordinating the preparation of high-quality bids (working alongside the writing team) through to final submission. The Bid Team also ensures an effective knowledge flow across the company and wider Group (e.g. through weekly BD email updates, bi-weekly tracker meetings) and provides ad-hoc support to colleagues preparing bids in other Ecorys offices.
The purpose of the role is to provide valuable support to colleagues within the Bid Team and other senior management colleagues involved in Business Development (BD) activities, by helping to identify new opportunities and contributing to the preparation of bids in UK, EU and international markets. You will have the opportunity to assist in the preparation of the technical and administrative parts of Expressions of Interest (EOIs) and proposals for clients, to work with colleagues in Ecorys and externally (e.g. consortium partners, experts) to source information and prepare sections of bids/proposals as directed and to assist in the delivery of other ad hoc tasks.
The ideal candidate should have a proactive and adaptable approach to work, using confident and professional communication skills, to work effectively with colleagues from across the business, as well as external partners, subcontractors, experts and occasionally clients, from a variety of countries and cultures. You will be able to demonstrate strong writing skills in English, with the ability to summarise complex information (e.g. from tender specifications) clearly and to tailor content effectively (e.g. CVs, project references) for different clients and audiences.
It is essential that you are educated to at least GCSE level with advanced skills in MS Word and intermediate skills in Excel and PowerPoint. You will need to demonstrate experience of formatting professional standard corporate documents with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
It is important that you have previous experience of working within a busy team environment, where you have demonstrated strong organisational and coordination skills in an administrative role and contributed to maintaining or setting up effective electronic filing systems. In addition, the ability to work to tight deadlines, to demonstrate flexibility and prioritise your workload is critical.
Experience of dealing with tenders/bids/proposals led by the UK Government, other UK organisations or international institutions and an interest in developing a consulting career is desirable. Also, any previous experience of supporting bid development and project delivery will be useful
